How long does it take to obtain a Possession Order against rough sleepers?
​

The timeframe for obtaining a Possession Order depends on the specific circumstances and the court procedure used.

 

Standard possession claims under CPR Part 55 typically take between 4 to 8 weeks from issuing proceedings to obtaining an order.  In urgent cases where there is significant risk to property or public safety, accelerated procedures or interim possession orders may be available, potentially reducing this timeframe to 2 to 3 weeks.

 

However, you must first allow reasonable time for serving notice on the occupants.
